My handbag is messy. Like, really messy*. I aspire to being one of those super organised people who has mints in their bag at all times, keeps receipts in their purse and empties it out when they accumulate about 5, and has designated ‘handbag make up’. My handbag is a big one, and this is so I have enough room for all the useless rubbish I like to carry around with me on a daily basis.
*n.b. I cleared out all the receipts, chocolate wrappers, broken hair grips and socks. Yeah, I found three socks in there.
Here’s the bag itself. Sorry for the poor lighting, I’m practically nocturnal at the minute. I’ve had it about a year now, it’s from Oasis and cost me £40 (I think). It has a simple little inside pocket for my phone and my lipstick, and the straps are the perfect length for me to wear it on my shoulder (I can’t wear bags in the crook of my elbow, I feel like I’m trying to be a member of The Saturdays). The scarf’s mine – I have no idea where I got it but I feel like little scarves should always be added to bags.
Here’s my beauty stuff. There’s not a whole lot of it – I used to carry a full make up bag around with my but since investing in more expensive make up it seems to last longer, so I don’t need to touch up enough. This is a sort of day-to-day emergency kit (beauty emergencies are the worst kind). On the left I have Umberto Giannini Backcomb in a bottle, I spray it into my roots and then rub them really hard and it gives even my 26 hairs some volume. Then there’s Maybelline The Rocket mascara – waterproof, of course – and just below that there’s my two Flo perfume atomisers – one with Chanel Chance, one with Givenchy Ange ou Demon le Secret. A bobble and a few hair grips, a mini Charles Worthington anti frizz creme, my trusty Rimmel eyeliner and then my powder brush, which I load up with a bit of powder before I leave my flat. Collection concealer in the palest shade, a factor 50 sunblock for my face/tattoos if by some miracle we ever get some freak sunshine, Mac Rebel lipstick and a mini Lush Charity Pot body lotion, Burts Bees lip balm (my favourite), YSL lipstick in Rose Opera, a mini Clinique twist up make up brush courtesy of my grandma, and Soap and Glory Hand Food. Then finally, my cute little Burts Bees make up bag, which I’ve been using for a good 6 years.
And here’s my tech. There’s my phone too (a HTC One X, my baby), but I was using that to take photos and therefore couldn’t really work out a way of incorporating it. Carried round with my on a daily basis is my Kindle Keyboard 3G (a gift from my parents to keep me busy and therefore not annoying on the plane journey to Florida a couple of years ago) which I adore, my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, my little orange iPod Nano, a memory stick – it could come in handy one day, you never know – and the plug part of my kindle/phone charger.
And here’s the stuff that didn’t fit into the previous categories. A pretty blue scarf which takes up a little too much room in my bag but always comes in handy, some KFC Freshen up wipes (I don’t eat there but the boyfriend does, and they’re actually really useful to keep in my bag), Pro Plus for those early morning starts, a little booklet of Boots vouchers – yay for double points – my not often enough used gym membership card, 3D glasses (the cinema makes you pay, and I forget them if I don’t keep them with me at all times!) and my work lanyard/locker key which gets me 10% off at my local Costa. Then there’s my gloves, a bottle of water, a book full of discount vouchers, and my thoroughly adored Betsey Johnson purse. Lets not get into how much rubbish is in there …
Okay, that’s all of it. Not good, right? Somebody please tell me you’re as bad as me.
